With many sports leagues playing at breakneck speeds, you will be a little hard pressed to follow your favorite hockey, football and baseball teams at the same time. Scanning through news updates every day to find out when the important fixtures are, what place is up for what price and which coach is likely to be replaced is a stressful in this day and age of information.
Thankfully, your Android can help sort and prioritise sports updates and Alexa is just the right app for it. Alexa allows you to program in your favorite sports teams, and all you have to do then is ask for updates for those teams later. The app allows for multiple teams, so you can follow many sports at the same time.
While all the sports are not included in Alexa’s list, you can choose your favorite teams playing in football, baseball, hockey and soccer leagues for the app to post updates to you. You have thirteen different leagues there which you can add to teams from, including UEFA, NHL, WNBA and NCAA. There is also the useful search function that makes it possible for you to look for teams by city or region if you are having trouble remembering their exact names.
How To Use Alexa For Sports Updates
For this, the first, obvious step, is to open the Alexa app on your phone. This is done in various ways possible – you can open the app, or you can summon Alexa by saying Alexa aloud and the voice companion will appear. You can also change the wake word to Amazon, Echo or Computer. Click on the Menu, the button with the three horizontal lines thats is upper left corner of the screen. After it you need to click on settings, then click on Sports Updates and after then you will get search bar for searching your teams. Key in your favorite team’s name, and tap to select from the prompt. Your team has been added for updates.
How To Remove A Team From Your Sports Updates
Open the Alexa app on your phone, tap the menu button that looks like three horizontal lines on the upper left corner of the app, and then go to Settings, where you will find Sports Update. Tap on the X just on the right of the team you wish to remove from the updates list, and this will get rid of the updates from that team.
Besides this, a complete list of media commands for Alexa has been made available, and it includes commands such as “Alexa, what was the score of the [team] game?” to check on the results of a finished game, “Alexa, did the [team] win?” which is just another small way to ask the same question, “Alexa, when do the [team] play next?” to ask for the game schedule.
If you want to find the results of your favourite team’s matches, the media command is actually, “Alexa, give me my Sports Update.” which is important to remember once you have set favourites in the team section. You can even get Fantasy Football updates by asking “Alexa, ask Yahoo Fantasy Football for a score update” and league updates by asking “Alexa, what are the MLB standings?” and Alexa will happily oblige.
