    How To Set Up An iCloud Mail Account On Your Android Device

    Apple and Android devices may seem like two different universes that do not quite intersect, with files that are perfectly functional running into a million problems on the other platform, and the functionality of one being at loggerheads with that of the other. This may cause a lot of problems for users when they migrate from Apple devices to Android and vice versa, and you may think you will have to give up a lot of native iOS features when you change from an iPad or iPhone to an Android device. This may not now necessarily be so, and here we will talk about one very important iOS feature that can be used through an Android device – using the iCloud email service from an Android phone.

    Setting Up iCloud mail service on Android

    An Android phone requires you to sign in to your Gmail account that authenticates your identity and your Google Play Store sign in. However, besides the Gmail app on your phone, you will notice that there is also just an Email application. If in case the app is not there then there are many alternatives available on the Google Play Store for that. The appearance of this may differ from phone to phone but the bottomline is that you need because you need IMAP and SMTP to get the iCloud email service running on your phone.

    How to add an iCloud email address to Android account

    Go to Setting by going to Notifications after swiping down, and clicking on the gear button.
    Once there, you should tap on Accounts/Cloud and Accounts, as it may appear on your phone.
    Now, Click to Add Account.

    Click on the Email if there is such an option,or you can tap on IMAP next to the Gmail icon. while choosing the Gmail option, icloud account will be automatically recognized and it can import the correct server settings.
    Also when you choose an Email option, you will need to set the settings manually:
    Incoming mail server:
    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    SSL required: Yes
    Port: 993

    Username: The username should be the first part of email before the @  sign of your iCloud email address. So if it’s [email protected], just the “sabiq” part.
    Password: Your iCloud email address password.
    Outgoing mail server:
    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    SSL Required: Yes
    Port: 587
    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
    Username: The email address of your iCloud account.
    Password: Password should be used in the incoming mail server section.
    Once all this is done, click on Continue or other button that is available to finish up the process.

    If you face issue or any error in the SSL field in the incoming or outgoing mail server sections, set it to TSL and see if that helps. Most often, the above details are enough to get your server up and running, and you can get all your mails and contacts from the iCloud account onto your Android device. Still, it may be a little pesky considering how your iPhone or iPad did all this for you automatically. You can also find apps on the Google Play Store and even off it that might help you do this better, and it may be worth a shot trying them out.

    It might be that you run into difficulties with this, and what you can do is try and play with the security type in the incoming or outgoing server settings. The combination of security settings that mentioned worked on some devices but you might find that they don’t on yours, and you need a different combination to make it work on your Android device.
